INFORM: A Cultural Entrepreneurship Symposium with the New York Foundation for the Arts

The big question: What is driving the convergence of arts and business in the world today, and how do we foster and advance the growing trend of cultural entrepreneurship?
One sentence summary: I helped plan and execute an event that brought together perspectives from the worlds of arts, business, government and academia to discuss the topic of cultural entrepreneurship, and co-authored a white paper that defines, analyzes, and reflects on the phenomenon.
10-second backstory:
The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) approached the IBM Design program to be part of a symposium exploring cultural entrepreneurship; we did them one better: we helped plan, design and execute the event itself.

I helped with a little of everything on this project, from basic planning and logistics to working with the featured cultural entrepreneurs on their content and interviewing one of them during the event itself.

That said, the bulk of my efforts were focused on the white paper, which I co-authored along with two NYFA representatives. The white paper attempts to break down the drivers and defining characteristics of cultural entrepreneurship, and includes six case studies that explore the broad range of activities contributing to this phenomenon today. I've posted the intro below, but if you're interested in reading full thing, hit me up!
More to come on this project later...
